Why the rec athlete?

every PRO STARTS AS A REC.

Every professional athlete starts as a recreational athlete. The majority of us will never get to play professionally; but that doesn’t mean we are any less invested in our favorite recreational sports.

As a lifelong recreational athlete I enjoy playing several sports; but I am most passionate about basketball.

I’ve been working out since junior high school; but I started my training journey over eight years ago to increase my vertical jumping ability and stamina on the court.

A few years later I began incorporating kettlebells into my workouts because they can be used to perform a variety of exercises.

Train like you get paid to play.

Pro athletes train to stay in top condition and so can recreational athletes.

I realized that if I benefitted from a training routine other recreational athletes may also.

Many of the kettlebell exercises in my regimen provide benefits to any recreational athlete - flexibility, agility, speed, stamina, increased cardiovascular function, full-body strength, and focus - regardless of the sport.

Using kettlebells enabled me to build muscle and improve my cardio simultaneously while achieving a complete full-body workout in a shorter amount of time.

Consistent training improved my game so I was ready for whatever challenges I faced on the court.

I CREAted THE REC ATHLETE to provide targeted training to other recreational athletes who want to take their game to the next level.

If you’re like me your time is limited.

In my videos (some as short as 5 minutes), I show you how to incorporate kettlebells to achieve a full-body workout in a short amount of time.

Regardless of your age or skill level these strengthening and flexibility workouts can benefit recreational athletes in any sport including (but not limited to) basketball, tennis, swimming, soccer, golf, and football.

My name is Brian and I REC basketball.
